Abbotsford House - The Library

This room (along with the Study) contains about 9000 volumes collected by Sir Walter. Many of the bindings are stamped in gilt with a portcullis and the words 'Clausus tutus ego,' being approximately an anagram for Gualterus Scotus.

Much of the richly moulded ceiling is copies from Rosslyn Chapel. In the case of the centre of the room are shown a few of the most interesting books in the library.
