Sir Walter died in this room, 21st September, 1832. The table was made for Sir Walter by George Bullock at London out of old oak trees from Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire. Sir Walter's hand-painted Coalport dinner service is on the table. There are several portraits in she room - Sir Walter's great grandfather ('Beardie'); his grandmother, Barbara Haliburton; his French wife, Charlotte Charpentier; his younger daughter, Anne; and his great-great grandson, Major-General Sir Walter Maxwell-Scott Bart.
