Map of the Garden
Through the Orangery doors lies the garden, with over 100 acres and 5 miles of footpaths to explore. This is another story and has its own guide book.
One of the principal features of the 1st Dukes Garden was the Cascade. Finished in 1696 it was rebuilt only five years later on a grander scale. It was designed by a frenchman, Grillet, a pupil of the celebrated Le Notre. The Temple of Cascade House was added in 1703 to the plans of Thomas Archer, the Warwickshire architect. The stone carving is by Nadauld and Samuel Watson.
