Windsor Castle

THE KING'S DRESSING ROOM

This room might occupy the site of the bedroom used by Charles I while a prisoner at Windsor. Its present rich red wall hangings make an ideal background for important pictures by Rembrandt, Rubens, Durer and Holbein. The most striking picture here is Van Dyck's celebrated triple portrait of Charles I which was sent to Italy for the sculptor Bernini to work from while making his bust of the King.

Other important pictures here are Petrarch by Clouet, Portrait of a Young Man by Memlinc, a self-portrait by Rubens commissioned by Charles I himself, and a portrait of another young man by Durer.
