Glamis Castle

The Exhibition Rooms

In order to display to their best advantage a selection of some of the exceptionally interesting articles which have accumulated at Glamis over the centuries, the Blue Room has been adapted into a small museum known as 'The Family Exhibition'. This collection was assembled by Mary Countess of Strathmore. Here can be seen James VIII's watch and presentation sword, Claverhouse's leather bullet-proof jerkin, Victorian dolls, the 14th Earl's uniforms, the robes worn at the Coronation of Edward VII in 1902 and at subsequent coronations, and many other fascinating objects.

Another exhibition is contained in the Coach House beneath the Dining Room. It includes additional information on the Strathmore family, the construction of the Castle and the development of the policies and gardens. A large part is also devoted to today's management of the Estate.

Visitors will be able to visit the Castle Gift Shop situated in what was the Butler's Pantry, the Fine Arts Gallery Shop in the West Turret and the Restaurant in the 18th century kitchen.
