Floors Castle

The Robe Room

This part of the Gallery has been set aside for the display of some of the Castle's collection of costumes and associated objects. The main figures are wearing the Roxburghe coronation robes. There is also a page boy's outfit worn by the present Duke when a child. On the left as you enter is a collection of 18th and 19th century painted fans and below a collection of 19th century tortoise-shell hair combs, feathered head-dresses and tiaras. On the wall on the right is a pair of 18th century needlework pictures of baskets of flowers. The furniture includes two fine Queen Anne walnut settees. On the wall above hang two engravings from the Winterhalter portraits of two of Queen Victoria's daughters.
