The Tea Room

Northwards from the Small Drawing Room is the Tea Room of the same period, with some fine plasterwork. The frieze with musical instruments over the fireplace is of unusual character. The 18th century Chippendale and Sheraton cabinets contain a magnificent collection of china from the famous French State factory of Sevres, near Paris, which was established in 1755. The pictures on the east wall are of Elizabeth Queen of Bohemia daughter of James VI, and her son Prince Rupert. Her three daughters, Princesses Elizabeth, Louise, and Henrietta, by Gerard Honthorst, are on the south and east walls. These princesses were cousins of Amelia, Marchioness of Atholl.
