The Ante-Room and Blue Bedroom
In the Ante-Room are some nineteenth-century relics and portraits, including a pair of three-quarter length paintings of General Viscount Beresford and his wife, by Sir Thomas Lawrence, P.R.A. Lady Beresford's great-great-grandson is now Duke.
After this we enter the Blue Bedroom, the contents of which are again mostly nineteenth century. The large picture is of Louisa Moncrieffe, wife of the 7th Duke, by Richard Buckner. She was one of the celebrated beauties of the Victorian Age and devoted her married life to the welfare of the people on her vast estate. Next to this is the Blue Dressing Room where against the far wall is a French Louis XV Bonheur du Jour of Kingwood with ormolu mounts and inlaid Sevres porcelain panels.
