Castle Ashby

The Long Gallery

The Long Gallery is on the first floor of the South Front of the house. Work was started in 1630 by Inigo Jones, but was interrupted by the Civil War. Being south facing, the Long Gallery offers superb views of the main drive, which stretches for four miles to the Deer Park. The Adam fireplace was originally in the Great Hall but was moved to the Long Gallery in 1880, when the room was redesigned and decorated by Sir T.G. Jackson.

The Long Gallery is 90x15x12 feet and will accommodate 120 people as a reception room.
