Castle Ashby

The Drawing Room

The Private Drawing Room, The Middle Drawing Room and The China Drawing Room

Of all the rooms at Castle Ashby these provide perhaps the greatest feeling of being 'at home'. They create the ideal atmosphere in which hosts can receive their most distinguished guests in graceful surroundings. The China Drawing Room contains the famous picture of the Battle of Martinique. Admiral Rodent, Commander of the British Fleet, was married to the sister of the 7th Earl of Northampton. The private drawing rooms are devoted to the Compton family's extensive collection of books, some 17,000 titles, and have the quiet atmosphere of a library. Oswald Birley's portrait of the present Marquess' mother hangs over the fireplace.

All Drawing Rooms will accommodate 100 people in reception room layout
