Yeoman Warder Rod Truelove's life in the Royal Army Pay Corps certainly kept him mobile, as he explained. "Being in the Pay Corps means that you are constantly moving from unit to unit. I love travelling so this was the perfect opportunity for me to see the world and get paid for it. Among the places I have visited are Germany, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Arabia, Brunei, Italy and of course the United Kingdom. I must say, Italy was particularly nice as I managed to do a fair amount of mountain climbing during my spare time. Now, of course having settled into my role as a Yeoman Warder at Her Majesty's Tower of London, I can honestly say that it is the longest period of stay that I can remember."

With his roots firmly planted within the Tower of London Rod now has the opportunity to pursue his favourite pastime, golf and has become an accomplished player in his own right. However, perhaps the most intriguing aspect of his life and possibly the most time consuming are his two Heavy Metal sons. The last sound one would expect to hear coming from within the grounds of the Tower of London is the screech of guitars and the pounding of Rock n Roll drums. That though, is exactly what you would hear during the boys frequent practice sessions in the Tower hobbies room. "The one and only interest my boys have is music, in particular Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music" says Rod. "They are deadly serious about wanting to pursue music as a career and at the moment they are totally dedicated so my wife and I encourage them as much as we can".

So there you have it Rock n Roll from the Tower of London. The next time there is a Heavy Metal resurgence keep you eyes and ears open. You may just see the Truelove boys up there with the best of them so move over Bon Jovi.
