Yeoman Warder Dave Chenier's life beyond the Tower of London covers many different routs. From a love of golf to his knowledge of the American civil war and with an active fascination for tales of old London Dave is constantly on the move. An exponent at story telling he can be often to be found explaining in great detail about London's hauntings, its hidden churches and the notorious Jack the Ripper. When asked where his interest in the Ripper came from he explained There have been so many conflicting theories as to Jack the Rippers so called true identity that I decided to do my own research and try to set the record straight. As a result of my original source of information I believe I may be closer to solving the mystery than most who have gone before me. Confident words, yes!! but it is rumoured that he may have reliable undisclosed information as to the identity of the notorious Whitechapel murderer. Whether the information justifies Dave's confidence is something you will have to decide for yourselves but either way, you are guaranteed an enjoyable time listening to his stories of Jack the Ripper and other Ripping Yarns.

Mention the American civil war to Dave Chenier and you will immediately be subject to an I was there type flow of factual information. With an array of books (many of which are out of print) and a collection of artefacts from this infamous time in American history Dave's knowledge runs deep. He had this to say on the subject. The American civil war was the first modern war with mass killing power. As a military man I found this of interest initially from a tactical point of view but now I'm intrigued by all aspects of it. Suffice to say I go to the USA as often as possible and have been up and down the Shenandoah Valley more times than General Jackson. On a final note, if I could have taken the place of General Robert E Lee the south would have won at Gettysburg. Why!!!! Because I would have taken those confounded hills, Little Round Top and Big Round Top.
