Davidson
The Davidsons have associations with the Clan Chattan federation, through
the marriage of Donald Dubh of Inverhaven marrying the daughter of Angus,
6th of Mackintosh.
The clan was originally known as Clan Dhai, and its entry into the
Clan Chattan lead to some dispute paticularly with the Macphersons.
When the Mackintoshes, along with the Davidsons led branches of the
Clan Chattan into battle with the Camerons, the Macphersons withdrew
from the federation and watched the defeat of the Clan Chattan. The
Macphersons were accused of cowardly behaviour by the chief of the Mackintoshes.
The Macphersons were so angry at this claim, that they rose up and attacked
the Camerons, completely defeating them.
The Macphersons and Davidsons were to continue their bitter feud for
many years, and even fought against each other in the Battle of the
North Inch of Perth in 1396.
Families of the Davidsons were seen in the 18th Century.
