This web-site is dedicated to the memory of Screaming Lord Sutch.

A Short tribute by Hermien Jerian-Du’fort;

In recent times the image of "Screaming Lord Sutch" was that of an eccentric top-hatted politician heading the most outrages political party in the world "The Monster Raving Loony Party". In reality, Screaming Lord Sutch was possibly one of the best performers the world of Rock n Roll had seen, although this fact was mostly overlooked.

Throughout his early years of touring, various line-ups of his band "The Raving Savages" included some of the biggest names in the business, including, Keith Moon of the Who, John Bonhom (Led Zeppelin) and Richie Blackmore (Deep Purple & Rainbow) to name but a few. His love of, what is now referred to as "Schlock Horror" was prevalent in his music and stage presentation as he barnstormed his way through tracks sporting names like All Black and Hairy, Murder in the Graveyard and the almost legendary Jack the Ripper (now playing).

My association with him began a few years ago when I received a phone call from a music agency asking if I was free to go to Europe and play drums with Screaming Lord Sutch for a couple of weeks. I was free and I did accept the offer. What followed on was two years of extensive touring and recording. Along the way came many laughs, drunken nights and the usual array of Rock n Roll craziness, with craziness being at the top of the list. After all, I was on the road with Screaming Lord Sutch.

I have to say that during my two years of working with him I found Sutch to be not only a great Rock n Roller but also an intelligent, sensitive, easy to get along with type of person. I can’t remember hearing him say a bad word about anyone, even those who had done him wrong. As with his political Loony Party slogan of "We stand for Fun, Fun, Fun" so was his personal outlook on life.

After we parted company we lost contact for several years but a chance meeting with him in London just a few months ago renewed our friendship. Martin Stout and myself had already started work on "Jack the Ripper: Streets of Hell" so we spoke to him about whether he would like to have an involvement with it. It goes without saying that his answer was yes, the outcome of which can be heard and seen throughout this website although, unfortunately not as much as would have been had he lived.

So! To all you reading this, thanks for visiting us and please spare a thought for the man.

Dave! Wherever you are, just keep on doing what you do best, be a "Rock-a-Billy Madman" and make em "Scream & Scream" again.
