Edwy 955-959

Edwy was born in 941, and was made King at the age of 15. He was married to Ælgifu and had no children.

Edwy was a sickly adolescent, who was fortunate to profit from his uncles previous vigour, and received submission from the Nothumbrians, the Danes, the Welsh and the Scots. But it has been said that if he had continued to reign for any great length of time, there may have been a break-up of England.

Shortly before his death, he had already received a challenge from his brother Edgar.
