The land locked county of Kildare is to be found in the province of Leinster covering an area of some 652 square miles with a population of 118,000.

The physical attributes of the county are wet and boggy and the county includes part of the Bog of Allen to it's North.

The county town is Naas with the village of Maynooth hosting a training college for Roman Catholic priests. The county also has the Curragh, a plain which is the site of the national stud and headquarters of Irish horse racing.

Apart from the horses the county also produces oats, barley, potatoes and cattle.
