Warkworth
Warkworth made such an impression on William Shakespeare that he used this spendid 12th century castle as a setting for Henry IV. When the Percys assumed control of it in 1332, they significantly upgraded the fortifications; in addition to the redoubtable Lion Tower, with the Percy coat of arms etched in relief, Warkworth boasts a magnificent keep, noted for its huge 'picture' windows.
