Ludlow Castle
Ludlow is one of the most outstanding examples of the Norman castles built in the 11th century to guard the Welsh Marches. Three centuries later Roger Mortimer used the castle to intimidate his political opposition after deposing Edward II. In 1501, Henry VIII's elder brother, Prince Arthur, brought his young bride, Katherine of Aragon, to live at Ludlow, but tragically he died there the following year. The place now lies in the ruins, but there's still much to see.
