Goodrich Castle
Situated on a high spur overlooking the scenic river of Wye, this pink sandstone castle was built in the mid-12th century to command the river crossings. Not until the Civil War did Goodrich meet its match, 'Roaring Meg', a Cromwellian cannon that fired 200 pound balls. After four and a half months Meg finally pummelled the castle into submission.
