Cavendish Room

In 1782, Lady Betty Compton married Lord George Cavendish, later the Earl of Burlington. Much to the chagrin of later generations, she claimed all the family plate as part of her inheritance and carried it off with her! Nonetheless, she is remembered here. Like all the bedrooms, Cavendish is hung with original prints and paintings belonging to the Compton family.
